S.U. The CLIQUE

In today’s era of microwaved success and over saturation, S.U. The Clique’s fresh yet familiar sound broadcasts at a frequency far above the competition. Influenced by iconic artists such as Memphis’ Three Six Mafia and the Harlem Diplomats, L-Dos and Von Stacks have an interesting dynamic. Von’s nonchalant, mathematical delivery meshes with Dos’ more aggressive, witty flow to create something all their own. Add in their charismatic hype man Yo Steve & the always on point DJ MooseJaw and you’ve got all the pieces to the puzzle, with a high energy stage presence to back it.

The release of their debut album “GRINDSEASON” was met with a packed house last summer at Baltimore’s Metro Gallery. They’ve since been on a run from stage to stage, at local hole-in-the-wall clubs to more established high capacity venues throughout the region. Nothing’s been left untouched as they gear up for the release of their second offering to the people. As anticipation grows, the collective has been hard at work to make sure they deliver on a more grandiose scale.

A previous situation with a local recording label has afforded the clique some insight in business acumen. What’s possible for independent artists has changed since the days of the old industry regime. Everything they’ve accomplished thus far has been through their own ingenuity and creativity. They’ve shared the stage with a few of your favorite artists, rubbed shoulders with cultural icons and held their own at multi-genre music festivals, all in the pursuit of leverage. A solid foundation is the ultimate goal and they’ve put in their ten thousand hours.

After thousands of video views, a few of out-of-state trips and a couple of write-ups, the Clique continues to build upward. What seemed out of reach before has become another bullet point checked off of their list. Their upcoming project “DruGGz” is sure to make a big splash in an even bigger pond. As new opportunities present themselves, S.U. The Clique is on the frontline showing up and making connections, doing the work to back the talent.
